Companies don't really understand the internet, it seems. They're in it to make as much money in the short term as possible without questioning whether their strategy is feasible. That's why they're trying to cut down on illegal music downloads or the like - even taking music videos or performances offline. It's ridiculous; it annoys customers who might have felt inclined to purchase material if they were allowed to properly sample it (and those who don't might not have bought it anyway). Nevertheless, companies are concerned about controlling everything they release even when it means not caring about the world.
(For example: Gee, thanks, "official" online streaming sites, for only allowing the material to be viewed in the US.)
Well I can understand where they are coming from. A lot of people work hard to make these shows and other things and do lose a lot of money because of the internet. The problem is there really isn't any way to properly enforce copyright infringement laws over the internet without doing things like this which go against privacy laws. Instead they really should be coming up with other methods, like iTunes for example. It has not completely gotten rid of people illegally downloading music, but it provides a legal way for people to easily get songs onto their computers, and many people use it because of that.
