Black Order ArcadeTalk about the PS3, XBox 360, Wii, PC, and other systems here.
So tell me what game have you played recently (or not so recently) that you couldn't stand and why.
I thought of this just a moment ago when I was playing the game, Sonic and the Secret Rings that I borrowed out of pure boredom and found it to be dreadful. And I mean dreadful. When I first put the game I didn't have very high expectations of it, but I never anticipated how bad it would be.
Playing adventure is not even worth it, as soon as I saw the first cut scene I knew this game was made with a really low budget. The cut scenes are just pictures going across the screen. I would be fine with this if the game was on a portable consol such as PSP or DS... but it's on the Wii which is odd to not have a proper cutscene. Mind you, maybe the creators did me a favour not doing the cut scenes since the plot is pathetic. The plot has something to do with some evil genie destroying an arabian book... whatever, lets just say it has nothing to do with Sonic. It seems that the developpers simply planned on getting their money from this game by using a popular gaming character to draw in all the kiddies. Maybe the creators knew that this game was going to be shit and tried to save their energy by not doing the cut scenes? Who knows.
OK so the story is crap, the presentation is crap... maybe the controls are not so bad? Negative. If anything the controls are worse. Since the game is on the Wii, the developpers tried to be smart and make use of the sensor... if only they did it well. So the controls are kinda like the Mario Kart Wii's controls, only that in this case, it just doesn't work. The controls are stiff and for the sensor to pick up a lot of the movements, you have to thrust the Wii remote really elaborately, which just makes you look like an utter idiot.
The only small glimpse of hope for this game was that the graphics were ok. Not fab but not horrendous. But ok graphics can't save this shit-fest. What a waste of my $7.50!
End of rediculous rant!
And I'm sorry if there is already a thread like this.
It's one of those old retro sega games for the Sega Megadrive. Nothing wrong with old games at all, but 13 years after first playing, I still think it's one of those, "what's the fucking point?" games.
Don't get me started on 75% of the new crap that has come out as well, it's like, Nintendo especially, are trying to get those who would not consider playing games, play games, that aren't even games. That cooking guide is one, even brain training (but I love Brain training so I'll forgive it). I know Nintendo is marketing towards non-gamers and trying to make a profit, but I still find it annoying.
Final Fantasy XII; I don't think I've actually given this game enough justice and with my impatient attitude and it's slow boring story, other than that, gameplay is nice, graphics are nice. While thinking of Final Fantasy games, Dirge of Cerberus, I don't even know why I bought the game, the game mechanics are annoying, it gives me motion sickness, and instead of using the gun, might as well just kick the shit out of enemies that come within kicking distance, since the gun it practically useless, apart from having to use a sniper sometimes, the game is nothing more than fanservice. The Turk Training mode, is so much better than the actual game.
There's probably more but I better dash off for a lecture :/
The first being some baseball game on the PS2. To be fair it was only rented and I never really wanted it anyway but my mum thought she'd rent something for me while she was down the video shop. I therefore thought I'd give it a go and after playing for like 40 minutes I was still playing the first game. This game managed to take an already mind-numbingly dull sport (as far as I'm concerned) and managed to make it mind-numbingly duller. Honestly the closest I've ever come to falling asleep whilst playing a game.
The second being Empire: Total War. Now I bought this the week it came out but I just could not get into it. I loved Rome and Medieval: Total War but I just found Empire to be far too disjointed. It felt nothing like the other games in the series to me and honestly I've not played it since. It's still kind of stings that I paid £35 for it :/
Oh and some game called GoDai on the PS2. It only cost me £7 or something, but it was just an appallingly bad game all round.
It was like street fighter and the characters were so freakin wierd. Everytime i pick out a character i have to wait for about 5 seconds to begin the game.
It is so boring! There are only 8 different worlds with 4 stages each (the 4th being the boss fight) and it only takes about 4 hours to beat it with nothing afterwards but that the monsters get ridiculously stronger to the point where you can't beat them. It was a big let-down.
Sudeki. It's a game for the xbox and pc.
It was actually a really good game. Beautiful scenery, good story, good characters.
Except the ending bamboozled the eff outta me, because there wasn't one. It just...sort of ended after the final boss. Nothing. Not a cut scene, not an ending video behind the credits, not even so much as a 'thanks and kiss my arse'.
I felt used.
Wet..I saw a friend play it, he even regret it buying, theres not really a storyline or background of the characters, the gameplay its repeatable and gets annoy after a while, for example every-time the player used her guns she needed it to do flips and stuff ALWAYS & in slow motion, I was planning to buy it but nope dx
I really hated this Harry Potter game for the PSP. The controls were shit.

...It's probably not as bad as the games you're describing, but I spent sixty dollars on the thing. It wasn't even worth ten, the way it doesn't really last more than five days of gameplay. Very cute, but it's hardly a game.
I can't really think of many off the top of my head but I remember being immensely disappointed with Magna Carta on the PS2.
I was initially drawn in by the artwork and all the talk about a unique and intricate battle system. In the end, even though I found the battle system to be different, it was a bit too complicated for my tastes.
I'm tempted to try the second one on the 360 but given the reviews, I think I'll take the pass this time around.
Arc the Lad: End of Darkness. It was rather subpar and while I never played AtL before, I was reaching the midway point but no longer felt motivated to go on. I sold it a time after that.

Really? May I ask for an elaboration on that? A friend of mine is really enjoying one of hers (granted, she downloaded it), and I have one used that I haven't yet played - I'd like to know what criticism others have of them.
