So, this time around, we have The 189th Night of D.Gray-Man.
In last week's (old habit, sorry) month's chapter, "Blood of the Holy War", the Earl's assault on the North American Branch of the Order took an unexpected turn when the scientists were herded into a room with the Earl and his Noah minions holding various high-ranking Order members hostage (though Komui was noticeably missing).
Kanda -- with a crushed skull, though already regenerating -- was there as well, along with another motionless figure. As the swordsman awoke and took in his surroundings, he realized that the figure beside him was Alma Karma, the other "Second Exorcist" (the only other survivor of the Second Exorcist experiment) and the apparent "Womb" that created the Third Exorcists. He barely had time to register what was going on -- though he did indicate that Alma is "That Person" that he's been looking for all this time -- before all hell broke loose. Wisely and Cyril mentioned having the Second Exorcists go on a rampage to kill all the Order members there, a reenactment of a previous tragedy nine years ago.
Even more intriguing, the Earl seemed to be waiting for Allen to arrive, which he did, in quite dramatic fashion, even knocking the Earl's top hat off.
So where will Hoshino take us next? Stay tuned for the 189th Night to see what's next!

Oh, this is my favorite chapter of the recent ones (I've found them very boring.) Kanda biting Road's dress redeemed him in my eyes. Kanda was great in this chapter. And I feel extremely spoiled: I expected maybe just 14th talking or 14th pic, but the two put together just... *insertfangirlynoiseshere*
The 14th on page 14 scared the shit out of me. The last time I saw that creepy an exchange was from Kirakishou in Rozen Maiden. Both are just freaking scary.
What I'm really wondering now is why Cross told Allen to 'listen to the 14th'. I don't think Cross would say that if the 14th really was an absolute bad guy. He certainly isn't all good though (damn that psychotic grin of his.)
Oh boy, Leverrier is certainly regretting keeping Allen around now.
Ironic chapter name. Apparently this chapter is called "The Voice of Judas" (credit to aorin of Mangahelpers.)

The title was quite interesting...literally it can mean "The Voice of Judas", since it's "Yuda no KOE", but the kanji used for "koe" can mean "to call"/"to summon"...so I left it as both, since they have different connotations (:

Sheryl: Exactly. I’m terribly sorry but all the humans in this building are already under my control, the control of the Noah of Desire.

Road: Gya – what are you doing, you pervert!
Kanda: Shut up. Your brothers broke my hair tie, give me your ribbon.
Allen: So that’s the only reason you grabbed onto her?
Tokusa: In any case, let’s step back and reassess the situation, shall we…

And in the end they have implanted the AKUMA plant fragments into him and are using him as a living puppet for the Order~

(Edit: For Tevak, because she said "ni koro sareteIRU tokoro", would that mean just as about Allen is going to kill Tokusa and Madarao, she kills him first, because the "iru" and the "tokoro" put together would mean the state just before the action is carried out?)
Suddenly the connotations are changed, hmm, a woman making Kanda kill Alma D: Why would Kanda listen to her, though? As in...her purpose for doing so, for making him kill Alma @_@;; My oh my, the mysteries just keep adding up.

I wonder why Kanda never told Allen about his 14th slip in the last arc. I suppose it's possible that Kanda didn't know what he was seeing but that's what it looked like to me. That's the sort of thing you really should tell someone...
I'm not sure about the Maria=That Person thing yet idea that's started floating around. It's cool as this would mean Cross(they're a package btw). I'm not denying it but it seems a bit much to base a theory all on one single word. We'll see ^_^

I'm really interested in learning more about the Artificial Exorcist process, everything we've seen so far shows that Innocence is really intolerable about being forced to do things. I want to know how they did it O_O

Anyways awesome chapter. The random humor inserts ruined some of the atmosphere last time, but this time it flowed quite well. I was a bit wary of spending 2 or 3 chapters on Kanda's past since he's not one of my favorite characters, but the addition of Allen should make this an interesting ride. I'm especially interested in his reaction after witnessing the shady doings of the church.

Or scrubbed up on their basic English. Either way I'm REALLY happy to be able to read a scanlation and not have to flip between the manga and a good translation just because I can't make sense of the scanlation text.
The part where the 14th had the super scary imma-gonna-kill-you-and-beat-your-ass look & the part when Kanda said ''he's dead'' were the two most .. wow parts. ( can't find a better word to describe. )
I think that after this, both Allen and Kanda might leave the Order. If they end up travelling together, that'll be amusing. I wonder if any of the others would also leave.
It's disappointing that the 14th wasn't as pretty as the last time he took over Allen, but his scaryface was awesome. And his goal is really interesting.
It seems that the Maria rumour on 2chan really was only a rumour, and there's no base for it in the chapter. But, it's true that she might be the only person who could with her power make Kanda kill Alma if he wasn't willing to fight him. But - if she really was there and could mind-control Kanda, maybe she could instead have done the same to Alma to make him stop fighting? It's hard to say.
I doubt Kanda and Allen would leave the Order. Actually after this I think it's more likely that long postponed heresy trial might take place. That megalomania the Fourteenth was spouting is sure not to go over very well with Levellie.

I'd like to see a trial! But I think there's a chance that at least Allen will end up leaving eventually, because...well. Allen is having trouble with a would-be Earl, and the Order won't want to keep him around. Unless they can negotiate with the 14th, which would be interesting to see.
On one hand, from what Road was saying, the Order was using Alma as a guilt thing to keep Kanda working for them. On the other hand, Kanda didn't seem at all willing to change his position just over that (really, that makes me like Kanda a lot. He's not doing the traditional oh-no-my-world-is-a-lie! thing that the Noahs expected). I'll be interested to see how Kanda's attitude to the Order is affected (or not) by the next few chapters.
. But - if she really was there and could mind-control Kanda, maybe she could instead have done the same to Alma to make him stop fighting? It's hard to say.
That's a very good point actually. Then again we don't really know the circumstances surrounding the attack. Maybe Kanda would rather see his friend dead then become a killing machine. Who knows.
