Bookman WeeklyFeel the need to discuss the newest exciting chapters of D.Gray-man? Probably not..ah well, you can go now. Just kidding! Chapters released weekly shall be announced and discussed here. No spoiler tags needed!
Greetings Divinity! Your new moderators Hikamitz and Thebes here to present you with The 191st Night of D.Gray-man.
Last month in the chapter "A Garden of Fruitless Blossoms," Wisely sent Allen, Road, and Alma Karma on a trip into Kanda's brain, revealing much of Kanda's unknown past. We were introduced to members of the Chang and Epstain families and discovered just what kinds of experiments the Order performed nine years ago.
As it turned out, the Black Order had been growing people with regenerative abilities, with Kanda and Alma being the first two successfully born specimens. However, despite his best efforts, poor Alma could not make friends with his foul-tempered fellow superhuman. Kanda was not too fond of the world he had been born into, being forced into many failed attempts to synchronize with Innocence (with rather gruesome results). But, in his gloom, Kanda encounters a strange spirit-like woman whom apparently only he can see. Before he can confront her, however, she vanishes into thin air.
Alma spies Kanda attempting to chase after the woman and falling into a pool. Alma helps Kanda out and we are presented with the terrible aftereffects of the synchronization experiments; Alma's and Kanda's bodies are falling apart from overusing their regeneration abilities. They decide to wait in the garden of humans until their bodies recover since everyone else in the science department should be asleep. While waiting, Kanda and Alma discuss the woman Kanda says he was following after. Alma thinks maybe the woman Kanda saw was For, who comforted Alma once when he was crying, and Alma teases Kanda for possibly crying. Kanda is provoked into fighting with Alma, who is fed up with Kanda's bratty behavior, and the two get into a big fight. However, their bodies are still in bad shape, and they both collapse to the ground in pain. Alma and Kanda can't help but to laugh at their ridiculous predicament and grow a little closer--perhaps close enough to be friends.
...when our present-day Kanda recounts that 193 days later he will destroy Alma Karma.
How much of Kanda's past will we come to understand this month? Will we see how Kanda destroyed Alma? Only the 191st Night holds the answers!

I'm not reading so I don't understand very well, sorry (I think the spoiler provider is saying they don't normally read DGM and so they're not too sure what's going on)
He (probably Kanda) decides that he's seeing illusions (probably referring to the woman) because he has an experiment body (aka he was artificially made)
Failures will be disposed of (that means faulty experimental bodies)
So his friend (Alma) helps Kanda try to escape
Things in parentheses are MY comments/clarifications.
Blast it, you posted this just when I was about to.
Anyway, since the first spoiler is out on MangaHelpers, we'll most likely be getting more soon.

'Tale of Yu' and 'hallucination' sound like the real thing enough, but everything else... I'm not saying anything until someone who knows Japanese translates decently

Running on forever when there is no end in sight
I want to close my eyes and disappear into the night
And just your look could turn the final key
To seal my loneliness inside of me
Soaring through the clouds that cradle all of those who fly
Without the fear of all their rules, I'm not afraid to try
And so I will search for the brightest star
To change us back to what we know we are
If I can't forgive anyone, where will they leave me when I'm done?
Inside this shining star the darkest night is born
I don't understand, the truth was filled with all their lies
Yet through my heart your arrow flies
And if the frozen night is broken by the storm
There is still a hope, the shadow of a dark desire
A dream I call out to
Despite your sins and the pain that you feel, I still believe in you
Even at a whisper I can hear you want it all
Yet since I've lost so much there is a chance I'd take the fall
My fingers reach for what is left to hold
But I can't feel them through the numb and cold
If you plan to leave love behind, kiss me first then make up your mind
Darkness will come again so long as light is strong
Even in the warmth, we tremble in the wake of doubt
But these thoughts we can't live without
Still my heart holds the vow that I make with this song
Nevermind these scars that cry for what I'm standing for
And cut away my pride
Until the moment my promise breaks through or disappears inside
Inside this shining star the darkest night is born
I don't understand, the truth was filled with all their lies
Yet through my heart your arrow flies
And if the frozen night is broken by the storm
There is still a hope, the shadow of a dark desire
A dream I call out to
Despite your sins and the pain that you feel, I still believe in you

If they are true, and depending on hikamitz's translation, it doesn't point to the fact that Kanda may be artificially created. It just shows how much Kanda was affected by the experiments.
The word I translated was literally "subject of experiments body" meaning he could have been born of experiments or that he was subjected to experiments. It is unclear.

Sounds a bit fishy to me. I don't know if its a spoiler or a recap, to be honest, except for the last line. Plus, the ID isn't our normal spoiler dude. Then again, ever since DGM joined SQ, has there been a regular spoiler dude?
Spoiler dude is posting the whole script (or rather, most of the script with some paraphrasing). He is awesome!
I'm copy-pastaing as much as I can, will probably not be able to stay up long enough for him/her to post the whole thing. If this is the whole thing I'm gonna flip out at how little the dialogue is. xD
Whenever anyone has time, it would be great to have this baby translated.
Some parts my sister managed to read.
Marie lost his sight through battle and he was bought to the Asian branch. Kanda has been seeing fragments of his original's memories. Alma tried to help him escape through the water channel?
And in the long big chunk that Thebes posted.
Kanda's covered in blood or has blood over his hands. He's in the room with the pools and he's apologising to Alma very sadly over and over again.
He meets the woman again and tries to find out her identity. She doesn't really answer and seems to be trying to say something else. The only thing he got is that he's in a room which she called 'hanabira'
It's not a lot of help But limited knowledge in Japanese only got me this much.
My goodness. One of the people at Mangahelpers is saying that Maria is going to turn up in this chapter. I do hope that's true! This could be a very good chapter.
Edit: Aww, they made a mistake. They meant to say Marie, not Maria. A pity.
According to my sister again,
Alma knew about the waterway because the chef was cooking fish and Alma asked where the fish came from. The chef said they fished it from the waterway.
Alma was carrying Kanda out of the research facility to the waterway and Kanda was telling him that he shouldn't do something like that(with some swearing)
The Crows went after them and used one of the Talismans (binding feathers I think and needles.) One of them stabbed Kanda. Alma tried to stop the Crows and tells Kanda to run. The Crows reported that Kanda made it off through the water canal and they were talking something about Kanda retaining memories of his original and how dangerous it is. Alma got caught, by the way and overheard the conversation.
Scene change to Hospital Room
Young Bak(19?) and young Marie (around 19 too?) were talking. Marie is injured and blinded and identifying people by voice. Anyways, Marie's whole team got wiped out and he was feeling guilty because he thought he should have been able to protect the team.
Marie asked if there was a child in the room. And Bak was confused and Marie said he heard a child coughing. Cue Kanda showing up drenched, cold, bleeding and swearing. He hit his head when he fell in the water canal. Bak yells for the doctor and notices that there was a talisman stuck onto him
Marie was talking to Kanda (not too sure what they were talking about) and the Crows just had to come in and yell 'That kid, hand him over!'
That's all she can read. I can't confirm the accuracy of this though. My sister says 50% accuracy.
Amazing! So based on that, it looks as if Kanda was either modified in the ponds, or cloned (with alterations, perhaps?) or somehow had a specific person's soul transferred into that body. This latest spoiler sounds so good that I'll be really disappointed if it's fake.
So it's possible that Kanda's looking for that person because he keeps seeing all those memories. Maybe the woman he keeps seeing is his original or someone related.
What a turn of events, no surprise Alma got mad at the order, but still it doesn't explain why he killed scientists, he should have just killed the Crows... then again maybe he remembered his origin too and became so mad at them for using him like that.
And origin? Could it mean they weren't artificially made? That they were human from the beginning? ... I hope so.
Thank you so much for your summary-translations, pika318. Tell your sister she's awesome and I hope she continues studying Japanese. It sounds a bit too much for a translator to take on unless they were to translate it for a scanlation release.
Apparently, Marie's hairstyle is like Steven Seagal's.
This sounds like an amazing chapter even though there's no Allen Walker wtf and I'm looking forward to the awesome imagery Hoshino will pair with the dialogue. Seeing the Crows back then will be cool too, we'll get more of an insight to the rest of the Order and not just the Science department.
@Maloos--It would definitely make sense. You know how they say beware the nice ones. I posted the rest of the script from your comments up in the second post, for anyone wanting to read the whole thing.
Well, these spoilers aren't really helpin with my curiosity. Either way, the story seems truly epic.
"Memories of original"? I'd think that's pointing to Kanda being originally human and then modified. Or, though that's not as likely, his soul was used in a similar style how Akuma are created, and bind to the artificial body. As far as I know, it's impossible to transfer memories into a clone, so the other two options are more likely.
Also hooray for Marie appearing.
...now I can't get rid of an image of little, bloody, cold, swearing Kanda. >_>
