Five hundred years ago, a feudal lord was attacked by demons wanting to retrieve his mysterious inner power, the invincible power that can help them take over the human world. The famous mage, Tokimori Hazama, was called upon, and with his 2 students, managed to save the whole land. But they fell ill, the feudal lord was killed, his power was also buried with him at a site called Karasumori.

In the present day, Yoshimori Sumimura and Tokine Yukimura, heirs of the Hazama clan, became the kekkaishi protecting the land and the power. They use a technique called Kekkai, a form of magical barrier, used to capture and destroy Ayakashi (monsters/demons) that are drawn to this land. Any demons that come near the power will become stronger and therefore Yoshimori and Tokine are to guard the land from intrusion of the Ayakashi.

But some of the demons form a powerful organization to take over that mysterious power. Yoshimori plans to destroy not only the demons, but also to gain the power to completely save the world from being controlled by demons. To do that, he first needs to know what the power actually is, and also strengthen his poor kekkai skills.

Only started reading this a few days ago myself and after a little bit of a slow start, I'm enjoying this quite a lot

Haven't had time to venture into the manga , but the animu is pretty good

I think I remember hearing that the anime is further along than the scanlations

But the manga has more in depth scenes , according to some friends were done more tastefully on paper than on the wide screen

According to manga updates there's 21 volumes released but I've only got up to ch136 that has been scanlated which is probably v13 or 14 ;_____; I went through almost all of it yesterday

Loolz , let's just say it's the only manga/anime that I don't read/watch for nudes.

I like the simplicity of the plot , so submerge the perv side for this , Though I know that's impossible when it comes to Benny

She's like a head taller than him , and he's wayyyyyy too precocious for a girl of her maturity *hmpf

One guy once said something about Yoshi and I quote " I mean , how ugly CAN a main character get?"

I like the fact that she's a couple of years older than him. The way she deliberates a couple of times in the manga over what kind of relationship she has with him - brother/sister, colleague, childhood friend etc, it's just soooo cute

However , that midget girl who sees ghosts and who seems to harbour feelings for Yoshi is really annoying D:

Haha I guess she is a bit annoying, but so far in the manga her character is used so sparingly that I don't really mind to be honest

So much to talk about lol. Masmori's fight with Ougi was interesting and it should be interesting to see future interactions with Yoshimori should Rukurou join the Yagyou

Tokine killed a god! It's awesome to know that when it comes to the crunch and Yoshimori can't do anything then she's willing to take the rash action she thinks is needed if it protects the people she cares about.

On a similar note, Tokine's smile when she told Yoshi how nice his cheesecake was just love I don't think there's a pairing in any manga that I want to happen more than this one

And the appearance of this guy at the Shinyuushi(sp? lol) and Yoshi's mother on occasions open up a whole new set of possibilities

Kekkaishi is awesome. The one of my current favorite manga!. But I don't really like the anime.
the latest is ch 205 or so...
